Day -2 of International e-Workshop at KINS

The second day of the International e-Workshop, organized by Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences, KIIT Deemed to be University in collaboration with ICMR, featured plenary talks by Dr. Jaya Singh Kshatri, MD Scientist, Bio-medical, ICMR, Bhubaneswar; Dr. Suresh K. Sharma, Principal AIIMS CON, Rishikesh; and Dr. Sunita Panda, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College, Dublin. The workshop with the theme, “Imbibe research culture to empower Nursing Professionals for imparting quality Health care” was inaugurated on 18th December 2020.     

Speaking on the topic ‘Sample size calculation’, Dr. Jaya Singh Kshatri explained sampling, sample size determination and elements of sample size calculation. He projected a clear understanding to calculate sample size through demonstration by using the open Epi tool. The interactive session was moderated by Mrs. Kalyani Rath, Assoc. Professor, KINS. Dr. Suresh K. Sharma enlightened on ‘Systematic review and Meta-analysis’. He elucidated on history, stages of systematic review, PICOS framework, PROSPERO checklist, PRISMA flow diagram and data extraction. He inspired the audience by lively interactive sessions. Dr. Sasmita Das, Associate Dean, SUM Nursing College, SOA University moderated the session.

The last session of the day was taken by Dr. Sunita PandaIn her talk on ‘Analysis of Qualitative Design’, she explained approaches to qualitative data, applications and principles of data analysis. She clarified concepts on data saturation, traditional vs. computerized coding methods and described the method of coding and thematic analysis with examples. This session was moderated by Prof. (Mrs) Asisbala Mohapatra, Principal, Hi-tech College of Nursing.

The second day also witnessed a scientific paper presentation by 20 participants. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Abhilekha Biswal, Principal, P.G. College of Nursing, Dr. Bhuneshwari Dash, Asst. Prof., Late Smt. Sudha Devi Memorial Govt. Nursing College and Mr. R. Asokan, Assoc. Professor, KINS. There were approximately 400 virtual participants from across the globe.
