The 7th State-level e-Conference was organized by SOMI Odisha Chapter in collaboration with Lord Jagannath Mission’s School and College of Nursing on virtual platform on 21st & 22nd January 2021 under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Pravati Tripathi, President and Prof. (Mrs.) Amarita Lenka, Principal, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) & Secretary, SOMI Odisha Chapter. The theme of the conference was ‘From Pregnancy to Postpartum: Women’s Entitlement and Midwives’ Accountability’.
Dr. Sanjukta Sahoo, Director of Nursing Odisha inaugurated the conference and the proceeding in the presence of Prof. (Mrs.) Amarita Lenka; Mrs. Bandana Das; and Prof. (Dr.) Laxmi Rana, Research Supervisor, Himalayan University. In her welcome address, Prof. Lenka greeted the guests, eminent speakers, moderators, panelists, evaluators and participants on behalf of the organizing committee.
Dr. Rafath Razia, Principal, Muslim Maternity and children’s Hospital, Hyderabad took the first session on ‘World Needs Midwives Then and Now: A Qualitative Perspective in MCH Care’. The second session on ‘Newer Policies Pertaining to Maternal and Newborn Care and Pregnant Mother’s Bill of Rights’ was addressed by Prof. Sujata, Independent Midwifery and Lactation Consultant, ANSWERS, Hyderabad.
Prof. Mrs. Niyati Das, Vice Principal, KINS and Mrs. Kalyani Rath, Associate Professor were also invited to be moderator for panel discussion and evaluator for scientific paper presentation respectively. As many as 600 participants attended the conference including guests, faculty members, nursing students as well as staff of distinguished nursing colleges and hospitals across the state.
