The Department of Physiology,KIMS organised a one-day national CME programme on the theme “Sleep physiology: Need of the hour’’ on December 3 as a part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations “Soil to Silver’’ at KIIT University.There was elaborate discussion ranging from basic scientific aspects of sleep to applied aspects like diagnosis and management of sleep disorders. There were 116 online participants from all over India and 64 offline participants.
While the welcome address was delivered by Principal KIMS Brig Prof (Dr) AP Mohanty, the gathering was also addressed by Pro-VC KIMS Prof (Dr) CBK Mohanty,DMET Odisha Prof Dr RR Mohanty,Director KSPH Prof Dr SK Satpathy and Medical SuperintendentKIMS Prof Dr RC Das.
The speakers were Prof Dr SC Mahapatraformer HoD Physiology AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, Prof Dr HN Mallickformer Prof in Physiology, AIIMS New Delhi, Prof Dr BinduKuttyDepartment of Neurophysiology, NIMHANS, Bengaluru,Dr Priyadarshini Mishra,AIIMS Bhubaneswar and International sleep specialist Prof Dr Tripatdeep Singh,AIIMS New Delhi.
Among eminent speakers from KIMS were Prof Dr KK Samantray,Dr PranabMahapatra,Dr DebasishBehera and Dr Bandita Panda.The sessions were chaired and moderated by Prof Dr Pravati Pal from Department of Physiology JIPMER, Puducherry,Prof Dr Ellora Devi IMS and SUM Hospital Bhubaneswar and Prof Bipin Bihari Pradhan,Prof Dr JP Ravan,Prof Dr Pratima Singh,Prof Magna Manjareeka,Dr PriyadarsiniSamanta and Dr Soumya Mishra of KIMS.
The prizes for highest marks in Physiology and highest marks in undergraduate Physiology Quiz competition among all medical colleges of Odisha were given away by the dignitaries.The programme was coordinated by Dr BarshaBaishaliParida. It has been awarded 4 credit hours by Odisha Council of Medical Registration.In the end Prof Dr Jayanti Mishra, HOD Department of Physiology and convenor of the programme proposed the vote of thanks.
