A National-level CME programme on Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) was organized by the Department of Physiology, KIMS on 27th November 2021 in hybrid mode. The inaugural function was graced by Prof. Dr. C. B. K. Mohanty, Pro Vice Chancellor, KIMS; Prof. Dr. Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Principal; and Prof. Dr. Ramachandra Das, Medical Superintendent.
The introductory note on the importance of Intraoperative Neuro-physiological Monitoring was delivered by Prof. Dr. Jayanti Mishra, HOD, Physiology, KIMS. Lectures were delivered by eminent speakers like Prof. Dr. Ashok Jaryal, Deptt of Physiology, AIIMS New Delhi; Dr. Poorvi Kulshreshtha, Additional Prof in Physiology, AIIMS Rishikesh; Dr. Priyadarshini Mishra, Additional Professor in Physiology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar; and Dr. Kaviraja Udupa, Additional Professor in Physiology from NIMHANS, Bengaluru.
They spoke on the procedures and implications of Intraoperative Neuro-physiological monitoring. There were intermittent sessions on video demonstration of the procedure by the speakers. The sessions were chaired by eminent faculties Prof. Dr. Sushil Chandra Mahapatra, Dean, Sri Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences, Tumkur, Karnataka; and Prof. Dr. Pravati Pal, Deptt of Physiology, JIPMER Pondicherry. There were about 80 participants from all over India and from KIMS and KINS. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Soumya Mishra, Asst Professor, Physiology, KIMS. The CME was awarded two credit points by the Orissa Council of Medical Registration.
