KIMS ICMR team, working in Boudh district of Odisha on the Project “An intervention study to increase male participation in Family Planning program” under PI Prof. Dr. Sonali Kar, Dept of Community Medicine, attended the Female and Male sterilization camp at DHH Boudh and CHC Purunakatak, respectively on 9th February and 10th February 10th February 2023. The team as a part of the Intervention Phase, currently going on in the project, has been generating awareness with an effort to make qualitative family planning choices among the eligible couples, in sampled intervention villages.
While they end the 1st quarter of the intervention phase, the camp was the icing on the cake for the consistent efforts made by the team, comprising of Post graduates from Community Medicine, Advisor Prof Dr. Samantaray(Co-PI) and a dedicated team of Consultant (Shri Bishnu Dash) and supervisors (Susanta Bhoi and Ajaya Pradhan) working at the field lead by the PI. The team managed to mobilize a maximum number of participants, both males and females for the camp.
On behalf of the whole team, Dr. Asutosh Pradhan, 2nd year PG from Dept of Community Medicine, Mr. Bishnu Dash along with Field supervisors gave away a token of appreciation to each of the Operating surgeons (Dr. Sudarshan Meher, Dr Kishore Pattnaik, Dr. Shantanu Mishra) and Medical Officer In-charge (Dr Chinmaya Mishra) of CHC Purunakatak, Boudh. The team’s efforts were lauded by the District/Block officials for their persistent support and determination against all odds. The team also expresses its hearty gratitude to Director Family welfare (Dr. Bijay Panigrahi) and State MCH Consultant Shri Saroj Panigrahi for encouraging the team and handholding for all initiatives. Team is also grateful to Dept HOD Prof Dr. Basant Kumar Behera to offer unconditional support for all project work. Overall the team thanks Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder KIIT & KISS for his blessings and inspiration that helps overcome all hurdles. Efforts are on to arrange a similar camp at the other project site Koraput in coming days.
