Mid-term Symposium of the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (APLAR), an organization having representations from 35 countries from the Asia Pacific region, was organized on 29th May 2022 through online mode. The theme of the conference was “State-of-the-Art in Rheumatology Advances”. Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology, KIMS was invited for a talk on tele-health. He spoke on the differences between tele-health and telemedicine. He brought out barriers to the use of telemedicine in the region, talked on remote patient monitoring including mobile app based as well as invasive. Finally, he elucidated the role of networking and education in developing tele-health in the region. The talk was appreciated by Prof Rebecca Grainger, the convenor of the APLAR Digital Health and Telemedicine SIG (Special Interest Group) and Prof. Debashish Danda, current president of APLAR. It has also received online attention on social media platforms such as Twitter.
