Dr. Rajendra Sahoo, Consultant Pain & Palliative Care Medicine, KIMS successfully completed a three-month “Palliative Care Course” from BMJ & Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC). The course had 15 modules dealing with various aspects of Palliative care including principles, counselling, collusion, pain management, palliative care in elderly, adults, and pediatrics, palliative care in non-cancer life limiting conditions and end of life care. The course also contained didactic lecture, case studies and finally, an exit examination with 80% as passing mark.
With the upcoming KIMS Cancer Center, Palliative Care is going to get integrated with the ongoing care for cancer patients, and hopefully other terminally-ill and life limiting non-cancer patients will get benefit. Dr. R. Sahoo has thanked the Founder of KIIT, KISS & KIMS; Principal, KIMS & DG, School of Medicine; his colleagues and teachers for the opportunity extended to him at KIMS.
