World Leprosy Day is celebrated on 30th January every year. The theme for this year was “BEAT LEPROSY”. On this eve, Department of Community Medicine, KIMS organized a free dermatological screening camp in the urban slum of field practice area of KIMS, Niladri Vihar. UHTC In-charge Dr. Geeta Chand Acharya, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine along with a faculty from Dermatology; Dr Sibaram Panda, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Skin and VD, KIMS kick started the camp by addressing the slum people and sensitizing them about Leprosy and its clinical features. It was followed by free dermatological screening camp and a rally to raise awareness about medical facilities available to eliminate Leprosy from the society, which was participated by Prof. Dr. B.K. Behera; Prof.( Dr.) Smrutiranjan Nayak; Prof.(Dr.) Ipsa Mohapatra, other faculties, Postgraduates, and staff. The interns carried placards highlighting the need to maintain clean surroundings and hygienic conditions to prevent Leprosy.
