Interview of KIMS Rheumatologist Published in Central Asian Journal

At the age of only 34, Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Associate Professor, Department of Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology, KIMS is one of the youngest associate professors in Rheumatology in India who has achieved many remarkable feats. The Central Asian Journal of Medical Hypotheses and Ethics (CAJMHE) published an interview of Dr. Ahmed in their July 2021 issue.

In the interview, Dr. Ahmed explains how he was acquainted with the world of research during MBBS days with his visit to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS) besides others, in a trip sponsored by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), GoI. He speaks of attending international undergraduate student conferences and how his research works were published in the top medical journals the Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine. He has got grants from the ICMR, the Indian Rheumatology Association and the Asia-Pacific League Against Rheumatology.

Currently he is an editor of more than seven medical journals and reviewer for more than 25 journals, besides having more than 50 indexed publications. His main interests, however, remain clinical medicine and teaching.
