Director, Student Counselling Interacts with First Year MBBS Students of KIMS

The first year undergraduate students of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) were inducted to the KIIT Student Counselling Cell on 13th March 2021. Dr. Nandita Sen, Director Students’ Affairs, KIMS introduced Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director Student Counselling to the 2020-21 MBBS batch of 250 students. Dr. Priyabadini introduced the concept of Student Counselling Cell at KIIT and the need for counselling the students.

Dr. Priyabadini  spoke on removing the taboo associated with the word “counselling” and asked the students to open up regarding their issues like relationships, lifestyle, addictions, stress management, etc.  She also stressed that the Counselling Cell promotes cultural exchange programs, internship exchange programs along with hand-holding the aspiring students to pursue higher studies and research abroad. She highlighted the importance of growing together in KIIT, an Institute of Eminence ranked 24th in the NIRF ranking and 251-300 in the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021.

The students also opened up and interacted with her, appreciating the efforts by KIIT Deemed to be University for their all-round and mental development. The session ended with the remarks by AVM Dr. R. C. Das, Vice Principal, KIMS, who thanked Dr. Priyabadini for her efforts. Dr. Soumya Mishra, Faculty & Student coordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology, KIMS organized the program.
