Department of Community Medicine, KIMS made an impressive mark at the 42nd Annual Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine Odisha State Branch 2024 held recently at Bhubaneswar. The theme for this year’s state conference was “Mainstreaming Tribal Health:Towards Universal Health Coverage”.
Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar, HOD, Department of Community Medicine, KIMS, was invited as the judge for the Award Poster Presentation on Theme. Prof. (Dr.) Basanta Kumar Behera was invited as the judge for Scientific Paper Presentation (Poster). Prof. (Dr.) Ipsa Mohapatra was invited as the chairperson for a plenary session on Adult Immunization.
There was an active participation from Postgraduate students as well. Dr. Priyanka Mohanty, 1st year Postgraduate student contributed a write up for the souvenir titled “Tribal health situations- special emphasis on the Dhongria Kondh (Kalahandi)”. Three Postgraduate students presented their research works in the Scientific Paper Presentation (Oral) category, the Postgraduate students are Dr. Sneha Bhowmick, Dr. Ayesha Das, and Dr. Baishnabi Patnaik. The postgraduate students presented in the Scientific Paper Presentation (Poster) category were Dibyajyoti Mandal, Dr. Gouri Kumar Rath, and Dr. Priyanka Mohanty. All presentations were well appreciated.
In addition to the academic presentations, students also participated in the quiz. Representing KIMS, Postgraduate students Dr. Dibyajyoti Mandal and Dr. Sneha Bhowmick participated in the Postgraduate Quiz, securing the 2nd position.
