Day 2 of e-Seminar on Hematological Disorder at KINS

Informative and interactive sessions marked the second day of the e-Seminar on Hematological Disorder organized by Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS). Students were given the opportunity to speak on several topics to facilitate their participation.  

The first session was taken by two speakers, Ms. Poulami Chatterjee and Ms. Priti Tripathy, B.Sc.(N) 3rdyear students, on the topic Anemia. Anaemia results from lack of red blood cells or dysfunctional red blood cells in the body. This leads to reduction of oxygen flow to the body’s organs. Both of them discussed the causes, classification, and clinical manifestation, management, including pharmacological and dietary aspects, of the condition.

The second session was taken by Dr. Palash Das, Associate Prof, KIMS, KIIT-DU on ‘Updates on Hematological disorder’. She highlighted the recent trends and updates in the field of ‘Pediatric Transfusion’ aptly. Ms. Smrutipragyan Sahoo, M.Sc.(N) 2ndyear student discussed on Hemophilia. “Bleeding disorders are not the end of life’’, she stated, while explaining the treatment modalities and bleeding prevention strategies to be followed.

The last session was taken by Ms. Sonali Mangaraj on Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. Drug Exposure, Infection and unknown reasons are the etiology of ITP. She also elaborated on the pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, diagnostic tests and management modalities of the condition.

Each session was followed by discussion. Finally, the two-day e-Seminar ended with sharing and learning of lots of information regarding Hematological disorder among participants and speakers.
