Bone and Joint Day: KIMS Organizes Cycle Rally

Dept of Orthopaedics, KIMS under the aegis of Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) and Odisha Orthopaedic Association (OOA) organized a cycle rally to the famous tourist destination ‘Dhauli Stupa’, with message of “Save Self –Save Life” on 4th August 2021, which is observed as Bone and Joint Day.

A team of cyclists led by Dr. K. Srikant, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Orthopaedics accompanied by postgraduate students, Drankit, Dr. Anweshit, Dr. Vishnu and Dreshwar started from KIMS early morning and reached their destination covering a distance of 26 km. Other faculty members, Dr. Saurav Nanda, Dr. Ashok, Dr. Nishant, and Dr. Akhil reached the spot on morning jog.

All were greeted by President of OOA, Dr. Dillip Samantray and Secretary, Dr. Basanta Kumar Behera at the destination. They spread the awareness message and theme of this day to the local people present nearby by stressing on the importance of road safety, first aid, how to save others at accident spots, staying fit and healthy. Doctors also distributed awareness pamphlets. Regular exercise and staying fit is need of the hour in this busy stressful daily life. This was a small attempt to educate and spread the message to society by implementing at the self level.
