A Webinar session on “Knowledge Forum-A Guide to your Future Lecture Series” was organized by KSCE in association with Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and ASCE Student Chapter of School of Civil Engineering on 19th July, 2020. This Event was an attempt to bring together KIIT School of Civil Engineering’s alumni who have excelled in their respective fields after graduating from School of Civil Engineering and share their experience with their juniors and Faculties.
The event was attended by three proud alumni, Dr. Ashutosh Kumar, pass out of 2012 Batch who is currently an Assistant Professor at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi; Dr. Deepanshu Shirole, pass out of 2013 Batch who’s currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University, USA and Er. Bitan Ghosh, pass out of the 2014 batch who is a successful entrepreneur and a Digital Nomad and Founder, Next & Co. The Event started with the introduction and welcoming of guests by the hosts, Sagarika Roy and Utkarsh Kumar in the Presence of more than 100 participants including Dr. B.G. Mohapatra, Director, School of Civil Engineering, Dr. Sanjib Moulick, Associate Dean, Prof. K. P. Samal, faculty-in-charge of KSCE and many other faculty members and student members from ICE and ASCE Student Chapter.
The alumni recalled their University memories and it was a nostalgic moment for them to get back in touch with their Alma Mater after more than 5 years. They took turns answering the questions those were asked to them by our hosts. They also enlightened the participants with their knowledge in specific fields of research and shared their experiences about how they reached such heights of glory within a short span of time. Director, SCE became enthusiastic about how they have been doing in their lives. Being their beloved students, he took immense pleasure to share with the participants how proud he felt knowing that they have been doing something extraordinary in their jobs and uplifting the standards of Civil Engineering with their brilliant minds.
Dr. Deepanshu, who specializes in Rock Physics made the audience understand every aspect of this new addition to this field. Dr. Ashutosh, who has been teaching at IIT Mandi shared the tips and tricks to excel in students’ academic career and showed them a path to higher studies, be it within the Nation or abroad. Mr. Bitan who is an entrepreneur, mentored our budding Business enthusiasts to understand how the Market works and companies get established and prosper successfully. The alumni and faculty members had a light chit chat too, about how astonishingly they have grown mature from teenage kids, who came into the KIIT Deemed to be University with hardly any experience.
Finally, all the three Alumni conveyed their heartfelt gratitude for inviting them to the event for which they got an opportunity to interact with all the participants. They also expressed their sincere thanks to the University Authorities and beloved Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for providing them a wonderful platform to achieve everything in their life. The Event concluded with a Vote of Thanks extended by Prof. Kshyana Prava Samal to the alumni along with each and every participant of the event for making it a successful one.
