A Toolkit Distribution Ceremony was held in the District of Kandhamal & Boudh under Rural Housing Mason Training Programme (RHMTP) on 27th January, 2021. It was presided over by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble M.P. (Lok Sabha), Kandhamal & Founder, KIIT & KISS.
The Government of Odisha is committed to provide ‘Housing for All’ by 2022, through the schemes Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana -Gramin (PMAY-G) & Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY). One of the major initiatives is to ensure ‘Skill Development of Rural Masons’ through a formal mechanism of training, assessment and certification to improve quality of construction and provide avenues for career Progression. This is to be regarded as Part of the strategy for upgrading skills in rural areas.
Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Dept., Govt of Odisha and ORMAS have given a target of 4440 nos. to KIIT-DU to train Rural Masons both in Kandhamal & Boudh Districts. Housing is one of the basic needs, which gives a decent living with security. Shelter & development are dependent on each other. Under the direct supervision of Prof. Dillip Kumar Bera, Project Manager, RHMTP, mason training has been conducted across all blocks of Kandhamal & Boudh Districts. Er. Laxmikant Jena, Project coordinator, co-ordinates the day-to-day activities of this programme.
Prof. Samanta distributed toolkits to those masons who have completed training on 27th January forenoon in Khajuripada Block, Kandhamal District & in the afternoon of the same day in Harbhanga Bock, Boudh District.
The PD DRDA, Kandhamal; BDOs of Khajuripada and Harbhanga Blocks; Chairpersons of Khajuripada & Harbhanga Blocks; Shri N. P. Das, Director General, KIIT; Prof. Dillip Bera, School of Civil Engineering; Mr. Soumendra Choudhury, Director, Skill; Mr. Debendra Samal and Mr. Iswar Nayak, Dy. Directors, KISS were also present in the distribution programme.
