KIIT University conferred Honouris Causa upon His Excellency Justice Antonio Augusto Cancardo Trindade, Judge, ICJ, at the Special Convocation

International Court of Justice(ICJ) brings justice to those who become victimized from atrocities. I have drawn attention of the Policymakers and Legal professionals for peoplecentric outlook as well as wide range of international tribunal adjudication at ICJ time and again,” said His Excellency Justice Antonio Augusto Cancardo Trindade, Judge, ICJ, at the Special Convocation Ceremony held on 26th November, 2017, while he was conferred the prestigious Honouris Causa Degree, Doctor of Law by KIIT University.

“The legal system should not compromise with its basic principles. Without principle there can’t be a firm foundation in any legal system,”

he added

It is also the high time for updating and reforming the structure of the United Nations, emphasized Justice Trindade.

Appreciating the Special Convocation Ceremony  of KIIT as a highly significant and memorable one, Justice Trindade said, “it can be a sign of universality”. In fact, cultural expression is full of spirituality in its highest form. The search and quest cannot be limited for acquiring  knowledge ,” he added.

Earlier at the morning, he visited KISS. Appreciating the efforts of KISS said

” KISS is an example to world.”

Addressing the 27000 students at KISS, he said “It is necessary to learn to live well. The passing of time is the greatest enigma of our generation. We should educate ourselves continually so as to render our existence meaningful. We have a duty with those we love and those we have to live with.”

Gracing the Special Convocation as the Chief Guest, His Excellency Justice Dr. Dalvir Bhandari, Judge, ICJ, The Hague, said,

“education is an important constituent of development and it has very great influence in reducing poverty. It is also important for economic growth and productivity. Besides, education is the  manifestation of transformation of love for which we should feel proud of.”

“The growth of higher education in India has been phenomenal. The universities stand for harmony and tolerance. Universities are also undergoing profound changes over the years,” added Justice Bhandari.

At the outset, the Vice Chancellor of KIIT Prof.  Hrushikesha Mohanty welcomed the Guests and placed the introductory speech after the Pro- Chancellor of KIIT Prof.(Dr.) Subrata Acharya officially opened the Convocation, who also presided over the Special Convocation. At the end, the Registrar of  KIIT Prof. Sasmita Samanta offered Vote of Thanks.
