The World Alzheimer’s Day 2017 was observed in Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) on 21st September 2017,to celebrate the occasion, the faculties and students of 3rd year B.Sc nursing organized one day seminar on ‘Understanding Alzheimer’s disease’ . The aim of the seminar was to impart knowledge and update regarding Alzheimer’s disease to 3rd year GNM and 3rd year B.Sc. nursing students.
The seminar was inaugurated at 2.30 pm with lighting the lamp by Prof. (Mrs) Amrita Lenka, Principal, KINS, KIIT University followed by unfolding the theme “REMEMBER ME”. The scientific session was started at 2.50 P.M by Mrs Suchismita Sahoo, Asst Prof, and KINS with introduction to topic and importance of the world Alzheimer’s Day. Ms. Disha sinha 3rd year B.sc (N) student discussed the overview and facts of Alzheimer’s disease. She highlighted on history & development and facts of Alzheimer’s diasease. Next session was on casuses and risk factors by Ms. Ayushi biswas 3rd year B.sc (N) student, She explained regarding what are the causes and risk factors of Alzheimer disease .The next scientific session was discussed by Ms. Anwesha Ghara 3rd year B.sc (N) who emphasized on the pathophysiology of the disease. Sign and symptoms discussed by priya kumari 3rd year B.sc (N) and Mamata Kumari discussed the diagnosis procedures followed by Soumyashree Bose explained about various treatment modalities rehabilitation and complications of Alzheimer’s disease. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs.Rashmi Ranjita parhi, Clinical Instructor, KINS, KIIT University.
