Women empowerment is a fundamental human right that’s also a key to achieving a peaceful and prosperous world. From a world of unjustified credence to a world that validates true potentials; the dynamics have altered for the better.

There have been many women who have pushed beyond the challenges to claim the reputation that righteously belongs to them. In the 8th edition of Koffee With Kalliope, held on 4th September 2021, KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC) made a tryst with one such figure who has emerged as one of the most loved and impactful faces of women empowerment in our country.

Ms. Rida Tharana is a Video Creator from Bangalore and an emcee by profession with a fan base exceeding 405k mark on Instagram. She is also a social media influencer whose Instagram reels are quite popular. She began her journey to digital recognition in April 2020. When the idea that ‘productivity validates a person’s existence’ became popular, she posted a video about it ridiculing the weird sentiment of people about validation. Since then there has been no turning back for Rida and it has been a constant journey of pride!

She narrated her story of rightful rebellion that helped her break away from the shackles of stereotypical beliefs. She struck the ideology that drives the ongoing acts of misogyny and sexism and insisted on the importance of equality as the right of every woman. Most importantly, she highlighted her opinion that as long as one has respect for one’s tradition, one need not be worried regarding the dictates of societal standards. She is an epitome of inspiration whose tale of courage is applauded and exemplified by the world today.

Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director expressed his sincere gratitude to Ms. Rida Tharana for accepting the invitation and being a part of the show. Additionally, he also extended congratulations to Zenab Habib and Sreesha Gupta for hosting the event.
