KISS gets NCST Leadership Award

KISS has been conferred with NCST Leadership Award by National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Govt. of India today on occasion of Foundation Day of the Commission. 

Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu handed over the citation, medal and shawl to Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KISS and KIIT. 

KISS has been conferred with “NCST Leadership Award”  for significant and exemplary services towards Scheduled Tribes in the country.

The awards were given in 3 categories i.e. (i) Educational Institutions/ Universities, (ii) Public Sector Undertakings/Banks and (iii) Public Service rendered by an Individual, NGO or Civil Society. Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Central Coalfields Ltd., Ranchi and Dr. Pronob Kumar Sircar, Tribal Welfare Officer in Andaman Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS) have been awarded for the three categories respectively. 

“It’s a moment of pride for KISS.  I dedicate this award to students and staff of KISS for their untiring efforts and to all the staff and stakeholders of KIIT for funding KISS”, said Prof. Samanta after receiving the award. He added,  ” KISS has demonstrated leadership in Tribal Empowerment and Education, achieving Sustainable Development Goals, Capacity Building for the deprived, countering  Left Wing Extremism peacefully,  becoming a Model for Social and Gender Justice and creating change makers in the society. “
