The Department of English, School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures (SCTLL), KISS-DU organized a Distinguished Invited Lecture on “Understanding Renaissance” on 8th December 2025. Professor Sarat Chandra Satpathy, Former Professor, Department of English, Utkal University was invited as the esteemed resource person. The academic event witnessed active participation from faculty members, researchers, and students.
The programme formally commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Dean, SCTLL, who extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guest and highlighted the academic relevance of the theme. This was followed by a brief introduction of the speaker by Dr. Ratna Prava Parija, HoD, Department of English. In her deliberation, she emphasized the importance of engaging with historical and intellectual movements such as the Renaissance to understand cultural and philosophical transformations.
In his lecture, Prof. Sarat Chandra Satpathy offered an insightful exposition on the concept of the Renaissance, tracing its inception, historical background, and intellectual impetus.
