KIIT Deemed to be University has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) to organize the highly anticipated National Technical Meet-National Metallurgist Day-International Symposium 2023. The event is scheduled to take place from November 22nd to 24th, 2023.

The MoA was signed by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice Chancellor of KIIT-DU, and Mr. Bibhu Mishra, Advisor at Hindalco Industries Ltd and Convenor of IIM-ATM 2023. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar of KIIT-DU, Dr. Suraj Tripathy, Associate Dean of the School of Chemical Technology at KIIT-DU, and Dr. B. K. Founded in 1946 with a membership of 42, the Indian Institute of Metals has grown to encompass over 12,000 members from various fields of metallurgical activity. The Institute’s areas of focus include ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, ceramics, and related disciplines. Each year in November, IIM, in collaboration with reputed academic and industry partners, organizes the Annual Technical Meet and International Symposium, regarded as a paramount conference in the field of metallurgy and materials engineering. The conference typically features a technical exhibition with the participation of over 50 industries.

In the 77 years of the history of IIM, Odisha has hosted the ATM three times – twice in Rourkela (in 1966 and 1982) and once in Bhubaneswar in 2001. This is the second time that IIM ATM is going to be organized in Bhubaneswar jointly by IIM Chapters (Sambalpur, Angul, Bhubaneswar), Hindalco Industries Ltd and KIIT.
