KIIT School of Civil Engineering conducted online Valedictory Function during FDP 2020

KIIT School of Civil Engineering organized an online Faculty Development Program (School Level) from 23rd to 27th June, 2020 on the theme “Advances & Applications in Civil Engineering”. Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Director, SCE welcomed all the faculty members and invited speakers and expressed his sincere gratitude to all the individuals who have been instrumental in designing and planning the entire program with time and effort.

The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session, Prof. G.R. Dodagoudar from IIT Madras inaugurated the FDP and delivered the Keynote Address. He appreciated the initiation of KIIT DU on conduction of Online FDP for the strengthening of the knowledge of faculty members. On the valedictory note, Director, SCE further added to the success of the mega event stating “Over the last one week the school envisioned a prolific display of knowledge sharing with a platform where theoretical research was combined with practical experience”.

Dr. Aparupa Pani, Faculty coordinator, FDP SCE coordinated the project about the contents delivered by different experts during FDP for the last five days.  Dr. Bitanjay Das, Senior Professor of SCE formulated the entire theme of the Faculty development program and addressed the value and scope of FDP.

Dr. G. R. Dodagoudar, Professor, IIT Madras and Prof. V. R. Desai, Professor, IIT Kharagpur were invited as Chief speakers and they addressed the gatherings about the importance of “Preparation of research project proposal” and shared their valuable research experience with the faculty members. Dr. Sanjib Moullick, Associate Dean, SCE encouraged the faculty members for active participation and also appreciated the expert members for outstanding presentation.

Dr. Bitanjay Das, Professor and Dr. Sanjib Moullik, Associate Dean, SCE delivered fruitful insights upon “Design of experiments” and its importance in the present world. Dr. Jayanta Kumar Parida, Director QA Cell, KIIT-DU congratulated the Director for his active involvement and also the entire team for the successful completion of the domain specific FDP program. He further said that KIIT DU is fortunate to have normalized the activities even during pandemic times and completed the training and retraining of the faculties successfully.

Mr. Sachindra Tripathi, General Manager – HR at JMC Projects India Ltd, Mumbai was invited as the Guest Speaker. He shared his 25 years of progressive industrial expertise in both Generalist and Specialist HR roles. He also drew attention to the role of the University in establishing a strong bonding with Industries via specific Research groups of School with focused areas, strategy for technology developments initiatives and the need for Industry/Government. All the three components should be driven by a comprehensive leader of the School continuously in a proactive manner, he stated

Mr. Ajay Kumar Singhal, Vice President (Operations) in Railway Division, G R Infra projects Ltd. was invited as Guest Speaker. He discussed the “advances in construction management” and shared a brief knowledge on Project Management System, Contracts & Claim Management, Project Coordination, Project Execution, Training & Development and many more.

Ms. Nisha Singh and Mr. Anshudip, Twintech Engineering & Design Technology Private Ltd. shared continuous training on MATLAB software along with its applications. Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Director, Dr. Aparupa Pani, Faculty coordinator, FDP and Dr. Kirtikant Sahoo, Faculty Co-coordinator, FDP extended vote of thanks. During the sessions, the presence of faculty members and research scholars was witnessed in growing numbers. Finally, the session concluded with collection of the attendance and feedback through a Google form link from the participants.
