The first KIIT National Youth Parliament Competition organized by KIIT School of Law inaugurated on 16th November, 2019. Shri Suresh Pujari, MP, Lok Sabha; Dr. Sasmit Patra, MP, Rajya Sabha and Soumyaranjan Pattnaik, MLA and Editor, The Sambad graced the occasion as guests.

All the guests urged the brilliant and qualified students to come to Parliament. Shri Pattnaik said the decision of Parliament is the decision of the country. Parliament is the voice of the country. Today technology is instrumental in every aspect of our lives. The students should think about how to make our parliament accessible to all and how to make it an open parliament.

Dr. Patra said, the beauty of our parliament is check and balance. There are ruling party and oppositions in our parliamentary system. Every word of parliament is recorded. There should be fair debate and discussion. We should respect and think about the opinion of each and every Member of Parliament. We are in the age of youth. More and more youths should come to parliament, he added.

The nation’s destination is guided by parliament, said Shri Pujari. Earlier, most of the talented and wise persons came to parliament. But today the definition of democracy has changed. Quality of debate and discussion is deteriorating day by day in parliament. Now a day most of the wisest persons can’t simply win the election. Morality is disappearing from society and politics, he said. He said, now it is your time to pick up where we left. More and more educated and talented students should come to parliament.

Among others, Prof. H. K. Mohanty, VC, KIIT Deemed to be University; Prof. S. C.
