The KiiT-IS annual day celebrations rang the closing bell for the year in the most vibrant and delightful manner. On 23rd of December 2019, KIIT Campus 9 was the destination for the evening as parents tightened their seatbelts to regale in a cultural extravaganza that was conceived, designed, scripted, directed and produced by KiiTians, of all conceivable shapes and sizes.
The first half of the evening belonged to the Kinder Orlanders, who swayed to music underlining the patriotic fervour, stealing every heart with their sheer joy and zest for all that they did. The melodious but peppy opening song just made the ground for the perfect mock tail of love. They swayed; they grooved; they moved and they wowed. Cameras, iPads, phones were on overdrive as parents and family chose to freeze their favourite moments for keepsakes.
The evening nip became pleasant and inviting as the infectious energy and warmth rubbed off on the audience, and deafening applause filled the air. A special performance by the SEN students was a moment to cherish.
The revelry continued to enthrall as the junior and sub senior students took on the mantle to showcase their exceptional talent to their parents. Hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, fusion and classical – all of it seemed executed to perfection with a distinctive aura of earnestness.
The welcome song with the school presentation and the instrumental fusion set the stage for the rest of the events. The haunting lilting musicality coupled with the sheen of creativity and class, made it a unique experience. The Odissi dance with the powerful depiction of the Das Avatar with Jayadev’s classic lyrics seemed like a brush of divinity, and the lyrically delightful hip-hop dance depicting the Paika rebellion of Odisha was hypnotic. The dancers trained by the Shiamak Davar School of Dance reserved the best for the last with a glowing tribute to our Founder, Prof (Dr) Achyuta Samanta through their act.
More than 200 dancers graced the stage, the aisles and the energy of positive vibes crackled the crisp night air, as they brought to life the story of Dr. Samantha’s journey of a thousand miles. They capped it with dances dedicated to freedom fighters of India. The audience delighted with a bewildering spread of talent also witnessed the launch of the school yearbook, Carinae before indulging in gastronomic satiation. President, KIIT and KISS, Mrs. Saswati Bal; Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta; Chairperson, Dr. Mona Lisa Bal; and Principal, Dr. Sanjay Suar added a touch of gravitas with their presence.
Dr. Mona Lisa Bal gave the welcome address while Dr. Suar presented the Annual Report. Dr. Achyuta Samanta released the yearbook and rewarded the achievers.A wonderful evening, a memorable synergy of talent, dedication and togetherness. Inkredible 2019 set the bar a few notches higher for the years to come.
