International Women’s Day was celebrated at Auditorium, KIIT Campus-6 on 8th March, 2019.
Gracing the occasion, Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT DU said that our younger generation do not discriminate between men and women. They only understand that whatever is good for the society, therein they would act upon. Perhaps there were some types of under current social pressure, social system and social rule which had been prohibiting the women to participate in the major activities in the society. However, the society is changing very fast. Now a days, even the rural women are seemingly much more empowered than their urban counterparts.
At the outset, Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Students Counseling, remarked that International Women’s Day needs to be celebrated throughout the year. She elucidated that an empowered woman is the source of infinite strength. Men and women are just like two sides of the same coin. Men need support from women and vice-versa. In the process, Balance for Better is aptly maintained. She added that, it is always the balance which improves the fabric of the society.
Dr. N.K. Chakraborty, Director, KIIT School of Law emphasising on equality said that our male dominated society still thinking that the women community are not capable of relishing their lives at their will. Therefore, on many occasions they are being discriminated. However the longstanding social scenario has been changed a lot. Gradually our women are living their lives not by the grace of men but by dint of their own strength, intelligence and social empowerment.
On this occasion, ‘KIRTI’, the University Women’s Magazine was unveiled by the dignitaries.
