Hope in Times of COVID Counselling Session Organized for Girls’ Hostels Staff

Considering the importance of remaining safe and positive in the wake of  the current pandemic situation, a Counselling series has been initiated by the Counseling Cell on the theme “Hope in times of Covid,” covering the teaching and non-teaching staff of each School, Unit and their family members. Accordingly, a counselling session was organized for staff of Girls’ Hostels on 22th June 2021. Welcoming the participants, Mr. Sudhir Rath, Director Hostels spoke about the committee that has been formed for counselling of the staff by the Founder, KIIT & KISS.

Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counseling introduced the committee members constituted by the Founder and mentioned that it has been the endeavour of this committee to provide  support to the participants in the perspective of clinical, psychological and social aspects of life in these difficult times. She also made the participants aware of the other committees constituted by the Founder, for facilitating staff and their family members who are affected by COVID-19. In order to address the concerns of the participants on the clinical side, she had specifically invited Dr. Lalita Patnaik, In Charge PG Council KIMS. Other members of the committee, Ms Sadhana Mishra, Ms. Rajalaxmi Panda, and Ms. Linkan Subuddhi, were also present.

Dr. Lalita provided extremely useful inputs and guidance in dealing with the pandemic. She spoke on the nuances of the second and third wave of COVID-19 and the measures to be taken to remain safe and healthy. She emphasized the importance of having proper nutrition and maintaining appropriate levels of hygiene. She mentioned about the care to be taken for Covid affected pregnant women and newborn babies and also the care required for COVID recovered patients.

Ms. Rajalaxmi Panda shared information relating to provisions contained in the relevant websites of central and state Govt pertaining to the pandemic and vaccine related myths and misconceptions. Ms. Subuddhi said, it is good to stay connected with friends and relatives on a virtual mode at least.

Ms Jayanti Nath, Deputy Director, Girls Hostels, in her vote of thanks, thanked Dr Lalita Patnaik for sharing valuable Covid related  information and Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini for arranging the counselling session for the staff. She also thanked all the staff for attending the session.
