A project titled “Vitamin bio-fortification through fermentation of common energy-dense foods of India and South Africa for young children (3-10 years)” has recently been approved for funding by the International Division of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The project is being conducted jointly by KIIT Deemed to be University and University of Pretoria. Five faculty members of the two Universities are involved with this project.
From Indian side, Principal Investigator is Dr. Sandeep Kumar Panda, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Biotechnology; Co-Principal Investigator-1 is Dr. Gargi Dey, Associate Professor, KSBT and Co-Principal Investigator-2 is Dr. Selvakumar Elangovan, Associate Professor, KIIT School of Biotechnology.
From South African side, Principal investigator is Prof. Elna Buys, Head, Department of Consumer and Food Sciences, University of Pretoria and President Elect, South African Association for Food Science and Technology, and Co-Principal Investigator is Dr. Nwabisa Mehlomakulu, Lecturer, Department of Consumer and Food Sciences, University of Pretoria.
