The fifth day of the Faculty Development Programme on ‘Outcome Based Education and Digital Pedagogy’ focusing on ‘Outcome based education, accreditation requirements and its compliance using digital pedagogy in professional courses’, sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, Govt. of India, was graced by two eminent resource persons, Prof. Sasmita Samanta and Prof. Sandeep Podar.
Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro Vice Chancellor, KIIT & Coordinator, ATAL FDP delivered a talk on “Spiritual Intelligence; its role in today’s society”. She spoke on the importance of institutionalizing peace and harmony along with emphasizing the significance of spiritual leadership and sustainability. Prof. Samanta briefly elucidated the connection of leadership with Vedas, spiritualism and yoga. Her talk not only enhanced the intellect of the participants but also enlightened them emotionally and spiritually. She foregrounded the fact that “Spiritualism is manifestation of inherent purity and goodness of soul”.
In the second session, Prof. Sandeep Poddar, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Lincoln University College, Malaysia delivered a lecture on “Health and stress management techniques”. He explained different techniques of managing stress and dealing with stressful situations in our day to day life. He also spoke about different types of relaxing practices which can be useful for mental well being.
The session was followed by valedictory session, which was graced by Prof. Jayanta Kumar Parida, Director, School of Commerce and Economics, KIIT-DU; Prof. Sasmita Samanta; Prof. Sandeep Poddar; Prof. Arindam Deb, Dy Director, Accreditation, KIIT-DU; and Prof. Dr. Jyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar.
In his welcome address, Prof. Jayanta Kumar Parida spoke about the importance of conducting such kind of FDP on pertinent topics. Prof. Sasmita Samanta appreciated and congratulated the participants for attending the five-day ATAL FDP and conveyed her thankful words for the successful conduction of this programme. She talked about the immense interest shown by participants throughout the program.
Prof. Arindam Deb summarized the content delivered by esteemed resource persons during the FDP. He explained the relevance and benefits of each session to the participants and the faculty members cum participants from KIIT and outside institutions along with external and internal resource persons for their active involvement throughout the FDP.
Prof. Sandeep Poddar highlighted the hierarchy of the education system. He emphasized the importance of a blended mode of teaching and learning for all times to come. Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty proposed the formal vote of thanks and concluded the session.
The FDP had about 22 participants from 22 states across India. It had an integrated feedback and response collection system, involving all participants. They were unanimous in their opinion that the learning experience from the ATAL FDP was excellent.
