1st KweetTalk on ‘Diversity and Inclusion – Best Practices in TA’ by KIIT School of Civil Engineering

The School of Civil Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University organized the 1st Kweettalk SMESCE (Panel Discussion) on the topic ‘Diversity and Inclusion Best Practices in Talent Acquisition’ as a part of the Kweettalks Webinar Series by Kontempore and KIIT on 17th October 2020.

Mr. Ashish Gakrey, Founder – HR Shapers moderated the panel, which had Subhransu Mohanty, HR Head- Everest Industries Ltd.; Prammod Kr Mishhra, GM Talent Management – GR Infraprojects Ltd.; Sanjay Chaturvedi, Director HR – Hilti India; Manish Sinha, VP HR – Prism Johnson Ltd.; Debasis Panigrahi, VP HR – Tata Realty & Infra Ltd; Dr Shankar Anappindi, VP HR – Urbanrise; and Tara Raj, GM HR – MAIA Estate LLP as the panellists. 

The discussion was hosted and coordinated by Mr. Mrutyunjay Ray, Dy. Dir. Industry Engagement- KIIT DU and Dr. D. K. Bera, Associate Professor, SCE. Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Director, SCE introduced KIIT DU, School of Civil Engineering and outlined its achievements.

Welcoming the panellists and participants, Mr. Ashish Gakrey explained how Diversity n Inclusion (DnI) in Talent Acquisition has helped recruiters to get the right approach for culture setting and select right candidates for the right job. He also mentioned that with automation coming in, the use of data in predicting trends has become very important and AI thereon helps maximize efficiency in hiring. Esteem panellist spoke on how agile hiring creates a better student experience and creates flexibility in hiring as well as enhances collaboration. DnI has been encouraged and practiced by many corporates to bring a higher value and make equilibrium in manpower resources.

The panellists described how Diversity and Inclusion culture based hiring has a better hiring efficiency and helps identify behaviour better and better people management. It is more process-centric from sourcing to designing to execution to a culture fit and overall a better circle of control in the process, they opined.

More than 210 students participated in the panel discussion. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Sanjay Muthal, CEO Kontempore emphasized the importance of best hiring practice in present-day TA and the positive impact it is going to create. Dr. Saranjit Singh, Director (IE), Dr. Kumar Mohanty Director (CR), Dr. D.K. Bera, Asso. Dean, Training and Placement, SCE, IE members of SCE and on behalf of the entire SCE fraternity supported this prestigious event. Mr. Mrutyunjay Ray proposed the vote of thanks.
