The 10th Model United Nations (MUN) at KiiT International School (KiiTIS) concluded after two days. Over 800 students from major state schools participated, focusing on the theme ‘Global Sustainability: Collaborative Actions for a Resilient Future-SDG 17’.
Chief Guest William Hanlon, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office in Bhubaneswar, highlighted the relevance of discussing global sustainability for achieving UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. He emphasized the need for collaborative action to address climate risks and praised MUN for instilling understanding of international issues.
Dr. Mona Lisa Bal, Chairperson of KiiTIS, mentioned the UNHCR Refugee Challenge and UN75 collaboration. Rory Mcnamara, Head of International Curriculum, emphasized MUN’s role in nurturing global perspective and life skills.
Director Sanjay Kumar Suar stated that MUN discussions on energy crisis, public health, terrorism, disarmament, and climate change will shape future global citizens.
The valedictory event included speeches by Vice-Principal Priya Wadhwa and Narinder Singh, who was also honored. Stand-up comedian Rahul Dua added humor to the event.
