Webinar on Fashion Product Development by KIIT School of Fashion Technology

KIIT School of Fashion Technology (KSOFT) organized a two-day Webinar on ‘Fashion Product Development Merchandising (MPDM) & Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) Concept in Fashion Apparel Merchandising in Apparel & Textile Industry’ on 25th & 26th September 2020. Ms. Sayamdeepa Mishra, an alumna of KSOFT 2012-16 Batch, who is presently working as Fashion Buyer in Royal Enfield’s Apparel Brand at Bangalore, delivered a lecture to the students of B. Design (Fashion /Textile ).

In her talk, she emphasized on two main roles of Product Development Merchandiser (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Merchandiser (PLM) as alternate careers for Fashion Design graduates in the apparel & textile manufacturing industry. The commitment and hard work pays in the field of Fashion Merchandising and professional growth can be achieved at a fast pace, she explained.  

Ms. Mishra also highlighted the significance of self involvement and connection to the digital world for innovation & sustainability knowhow. She advised the students to restore trust within self and be confident to transfer the same. For this, one needs to gain more updated knowledge and keep oneself in the track of fashion trends. 

Ms. Mishra suggested to all Semester -V & VII student participants to  keep open mind  to accept any kind of challenges and explore different divisions within Fashion Apparel &Textile Manufacturing-cum- Export Organizations. She also laid stress upon the need to strengthen design development skills & process to be competitive in product, price, quality, time parameters and communication. She shared her own experience dealing with the world’s top most Fashion Designer and Retailer Brands from USA &EU Countries in Mass Merchandise Operation.

The session was moderated by Prof. Bauri Raula, Course Coordinator of KSOFT under the guidance of Prof. H. S. Khatua, CEO of the School. The Programme ended with a question and answer session followed by a vote of thanks.
