KISS Wellness Centrein collaboration with the School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology, KISS-DU organized a workshop on ‘Total Well Being’ on 11th May 2022 in a hybrid mode. Speaking at the workshop, Professor Meena Hariharan, Founder-Director, Department of Health Psychology, Central University of Hyderabad detailed various areas of total wellness, including social, physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.
“The goal is to make life purposeful where one is engaged in the environment for a sustainable and peaceful coexistence”, said Professor Hariharan, who is a pioneer researcher in health psychology and a counseling expert. Everyone should accept failure as a challenge to achieve success, she stated, while elaborating various strategies to handle stress for internal peace and maintaining an equilibrium state.
Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU spoke about the importance of being a good listener and having an empathetic viewpoint amongst experts who aim at the Total Well-Being of students. “The KISS Wellness Centre would play a pivotal role in enhancing the existing healthy environment at the university premises”, Professor Behera said, while praising the vision of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS in establishing the centre.
Earlier, introducing the guest speaker, Dr. Sujata Acharya, Director, KISS Wellness Centre, said that Professor Hariharan has contributed significantly to the development of various Psychological Tests. The talk was followed by a question-answer session, conducted by Mrs. Rajlaxmi Panda, Deputy Director, Student Counseling, KISS-DU.
Dr. Kanhu Charan Mahali, Director General, KISS-DU; Professor Namita Mohanty, Professor Emerita; Dr. Manoj Behera, Dean School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology; and Ms. Ronali Ray, Student Counsellor also spoke on the occasion. Ms. Saismita Swain, faculty member, Social Work Programme, School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights, KISS-DU moderated the workshop, while Ms. Sunanda Mohanty, Manager (HR), KISS and a member of the KISS Wellness Centre proposed a vote of thanks.
