A five-day Workshop on ‘Hands-On Training-cum-Workshop on Cyber Security’ was conducted by KAREER School for B.Tech and MCA students. The workshop was strategically planned before the Day One Recruitment Drives to make students ready according to the industry standards and requirements in the field of Cyber Security. The program covered Ethical Hacking, Metasploit using Kali Linux, Digital Forensics and investigation, Machine Learning and Cybersecurity and Bug Bounty.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. Suman Bhattacharya, Director, KAREER School stated that the pandemic resulted in evolving the digital technologies such as Cloud and Data Science thereby increasing the need for Cyber Security manifold. In view of the rising cyber crimes, the UGC asked universities and their affiliated colleges to create awareness among students to tackle the unforeseen challenges of cybercrime and to strengthen Cyber Security, he added.
Guest speaker, Mr. Sandeep Sengupta explained the necessity of ethical hacking and cyber security. He outlined different wings of cyber security and job opportunities in the field, while touching upon the topics in the workshop. Live demonstrations and Hands-On exercises in different areas were also held for the participants. Trainer Mr. Debraj hand holded the students on areas of Ethical Hacking and Metasploit using Kali Linux. Similarly, trainer Mr. Sanchayan covered the topics, Digital Forensics and investigation, Machine Learning & Cyber-security. Similarly, trainer Mr. Sougata explained the topic of Bug Bounty.
In his vote of thanks, Prof. Priyadarshi Biswal, Dean, KAREER School said, Cyber security is of utmost importance for the upcoming placement preparations. Around 500 students attended the session along with faculty members of KAREER School.
