Department of Medicine, KIMS, organized a single theme conference on ‘Sickle Cell Disease’ on 21st May 2022.The academic event was held in hybrid mode with faculty and delegates attending in both online mode and physically. The inaugural session was graced by Prof. C.B.K. Mohanty, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIMS; Brig. Prof. A.P. Mohanty, Principal; and Prof. Lalatendu Mohanty, Head of the Department of Medicine. Eminent faculties spoke on various aspects of sickle cell disease at the conference. They included Dr. G.R. Chandak, Deputy Director, CSIR-CCMB, Hyderabad; Prof. Prabodh Das, Head of the Dept, Hematology, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar; Dr. P.K. Mohanty, Prof of Medicine, VIMSAR, Burla; and Dr. Palas Dash, Associate Professor, Pediatrics, KIMS. The scientific sessions were chaired by Prof. Gopal C. Kundu, Director R&D, KIIT Deemed to be University; and Prof. Lalatendu Mohanty, who also proposed the vote of thanks.
