The two-day first Odia Poets’ Meet, held as part of the World Odia Language Conference, concluded at KIIT.
On the second day, the session focused on the relevance of poetry translation for the emotional development of language and culture, where distinguished poets participated in discussions.
The speakers emphasized the careful effort needed by translators to ensure that the essence of the original poetry is not lost during the translation process. They expressed that poetry translation is a complex task but stressed the importance of always keeping the originality of the poem intact during translation.
Notable poets Bhagaban Jayasingh, Amaresh Patnaik, Deepak Samantaray, Prabhasini Mahakud, Dr. Mihir Kumar Sahu, Kshirod Parida, and Sharat Chandra Acharya were prominent speakers who discussed various aspects of translation literature.
The celebratory festival also saw the presence of eminent poet Padma Shri Haldhar Nag, distinguished poets and Central and Southern Revenue Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Das, Soubhagya Kumar Mishra, Dr. Pratibha Satpathy, Ashutosh Parida, Manorama Biswal Mahapatra, Pradeep Biswal, Dr. Kailash Chandra Tikayatray, and Sipra Malik among others.
