Odisha Governor Inaugurates
KIIT Deemed to be University is organizing 40th All Odisha Commerce Conference (AOCC) of Odisha Commerce Association on 20th and 21st December, 2019.
Inaugurating the Conference at the Convention Centre, Campus-6, His Excellency The Governor of Odisha, Prof. Ganeshi Lal, quoted Father of The Nation and cited the Seven Social Sins as preached by Gandhiji in general and “Commerce Without Ethics” out of those seven in particular.
The Governor laid focus on Human Management as well as Emotional Management as it can create responsibility. “Our potentiality and performance have to be combined together for the betterment of humanity at large”, he remarked.
“As far as Commerce and Business is concerned, there are primarily 4 subjects, i.e. Management, Relationship, Transformation Process and Development of Leadership Qualities. More than 90% of the world’s content on Commerce and Business is confined within these 4 subjects, if it put together,” added the Governor.
Gracing the Conference as Guest of Honor, Prof. Ashok Das, Vice Chairman, Odisha State Education Council said that Commerce today is the binding force amongst all the disciplines. Because the entire world is looking at the livelihood generation. Livelihood consists of two parts, i.e. employment and value system. So the Education System where livelihood generation comes into the picture, Commerce is the first discipline which started its journey along this line, “the ethical battering system”, considered as the first stage of livelihood generation.
Considering the gloomy scenario of enrollment into Commerce Stream in rural colleges, adequate counseling and mental exercises needed to motivate the countryside students to pursue Commerce Education. Nobody except the Odisha Commerce Association would be competent enough to do this, stated Prof. Das.
On the other hand, the makings of a good curriculum would be the precursor to livelihood generation. Besides, Question Banks, a Good Curriculum, a Good Examination System and a Good Set of Standard Video Lectures to the lesser privileged students of Odisha is need of the hour to ensure livelihood generation, added Prof. Das.
At the outset, welcoming the Guests to the Conference, Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-VC, KIIT DU said that Commerce is a system for engineering knowledge, skill and intellect. While the social system should be robust, the outcome should be such that the people would get benefits from it. It is seen that all the fields of education is solely connected to commerce education. Even if the education system will be changing and evolving, as per the requirements of the system, all of us have to put effort to diversify the education system in the country.
Reading out the Annual Report of Odisha Commerce Conference, Maj. Dr. S. A. Taheer General Secretary of All Odisha Commerce Conference(AOCC) highlighted the changing dimensions of All Odisha Commerce Conference.
Presiding over the Conference, Prof. Prabodh Kumar Hota, President of AOCC suggested to include Commerce in School Curriculum. “We have to transform ourselves and go beyond the conventional teaching methods. Commerce Education is dynamic, circumstantial and requires a lot of practice. In the present paradox, there is an increased youth unemployment. It needs to influence and uplift the analytical, communication skills as well as research abilities of future generation”, he remarked.
On this occasion, so many Professors of Commerce who have pioneered the Commerce Education were felicitated by the Governor and other Guests. Among the dignitaries, Prof Malaya Kumar Mohanty, Managing Editor, OJC and Prof. Jayanta Parida, Organizing Secretary of AOCC were present among others.
