30th Conference of Indian Pharmacological Association, Odisha Chapter Concludes at KIMS

Curtains came down on the 30th annual conference of the Odisha Branch of the Indian Pharmacological Association at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here on Sunday, with speakers highlighting effective diagnosis and the rational application of drugs.

The conference saw the participation of 180 delegates who participated at a seminar as part of the event titled ‘Rational Drug Therapy’.

KIIT University Vice Chancellor Prof Sasmita Samanta inaugurated the conference and highlighted the importance of the Pharmacology department in the field of medical science. She said that the University has always emphasized research and exploration. She said that the doctors and medical students will especially benefit from this conference.

Pro Vice-Chancellor of the School of Medicine Prof. (Dr). CBK Mohanty attended as the guest of honour and said that pharmacology is not just a science but an art. KIIT Registrar Dr.Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty talked about the importance of medicine in life.

KIMS Medical Superintendent Professor (Dr). Ram Chandra Das spoke about how patients can be cured in a short span by the application of effective medicines. Appropriate skills are required for proper diagnosis and treatment. He said that giving rational medicine is an important part of treatment to give proper treatment to the patient.

KIMS Principal Prof (Brig) (Dr). Ambika Prasad Mohanty said that patients and common people should follow effective and efficient drug treatment.

Professor Padmaja Udayakumar, Head of Department of Pharmacology, Father Mueller Medical College, Mangalore, Professor Suparna Chatterjee, Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Kolkata and Consultant Pharmaceutical Physician Dr. Saurendra Das Major attended.

Among others, President of the Odisha Branch of the Indian Pharmacological Association and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, KIMS, Professor Dr. Mangala Charan Das; Secretary of the Association and Chairman of Bhima Bhoi Medical College, Balangir Prof. Sabita Acharya; Treasurer and Joint Secretary of the Association Prof. Suhasini Dehuri; Vice President of the Association Dr. Prithiranjan Das, Dr. Supriya Pradhan, Prof. Sudhanshu Shekhar Mishra, Dr. Trupti Rekha Swain,Dr. Y Roja Ramani also joined.

Students who secured the highest marks in the Pharmacology department and the contestants in the various competitions organized on the occasion were awarded. Organising Secretary of the Odisha Branch Dr Chaitali Pattanaik gave the vote of thanks.
