KIIT NSS Bureau, Bhubaneswar in association with Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), KIIT Deemed to be University organized a two-day National Webinar as a part of celebration of “Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav” on 18th-19th June, 2021 virtually. The theme of the conference was “Development of Dental & Medical Health Infrastructures in India from the Day of Independence till COVID-19 Pandemic: An insight”.
The delegates and participants were addressed by the chief guest Miss Sarita Patel, Regional Director, NSS Regional Directorate, Bhubaneswar, Govt of Odisha and the guest of honour, Dr. Ramesh Chandra Behera, SNO-cum-Dy. Secy., Higher Education Dept., Govt. of Odisha.
Prof. Dr. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU, in his welcome address at the inaugural session, spoke about the journey of Dental & Medical Health Infrastructures in India and importance of their development. He expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for providing this huge platform and inspiring to hold such events and programmes. Dr. Kajal Parashar, Dy Director, CEC & Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau informed that ‘Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav’ is a celebration of 75 years of Indian Independence. She also welcomed the guests, speakers and the participants. Dr. Jugajyoti Pathi, Assistant Director & Administrator, KIDS expressed his gratitude towards the NSS wing of KIIT-DU for organizing the event.
The scientific session included four informative guest lectures by eminent speakers where they focused on Dental & Medical Health Infrastructures in India and importance of their development.
Dr. Raman Kumar, President Academy of Family Physicians of India, President WONCA, Chief Editor JFMPC delivering the first guest lecture on the inaugural day on the topic “Development of medical infrastructures in India from the day of independence & future perspective”. The second guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Abikshyeet Panda, Professor, Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, KIDS on the topic “Research Scenario in India after independence till 2021 & future perspective”
Dr. Shalini Kapoor, Professor in Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University spoke on the topic “Development of Dental Health Infrastructure in India from the day of Independence till date & future perspective” on the second day. The second invited lecture was delivered by Mr. Asokan R, Associate Professor, Dept of Medical Surgical Nursing, KINS on the topic “Development of Nursing care infrastructure in India & future perspective”.
The event concluded with an outline of the volunteer work held throughout the year by KIDS for the development of not only medical and dental infrastructure but also the environment and society as a whole and expression of gratitude by Dr. Dhirendra Kumar Singh, Faculty, & Program Officer, NSS wing, KIDS.
