Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bhubaneswar, and a constituent under KIIT-Deemed-to-be-University (KIIT-DU) organised a mega health check-up camp at IIT Bhubaneswar on July 8 in accordance with the “Art of Giving” philosophy, pioneered by Founder of KIIT-KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta. A free dental screening and treatment camp was also conducted by Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) of KIIT-DU, under the supervision of Dr. Jugajyoti Pathi (Deputy Director Admin) and Principal Dr. Aswini Kumar Kar.
Chronic generalised periodontitis, grossly decayed teeth, tooth wear (generalised attrition and abrasion) and stain and calculus deposits were the most common findings among the adult patients. Dental caries and stains and calculus deposits were the common findings amongst the children. For all the treatment procedures patients were referred to the tertiary institute. The camp screened 107 patients.
Free consultations were given on ways to avoid dental decay, gum diseases, quitting smoking, proper tooth brushing procedures, maintenance of oral hygiene and good oral hygiene practices.
