Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) Bhubaneswar Chapter in association with Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), KIIT Deemed to be University observed National Science Day 2021 on 28th February 2021. A conference with the theme ‘Future of STI: Impact on Education Skills and Work’ was organized on the occasion.
Delivering the keynote address on ‘Current Scenario and Future Direction of Science Education, R&D, Technology Development and Innovation in India’, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardee Prof. Dr. Gopal C. Kundu, Director, R&D, KIIT-DU explained about the evolution of STI policies in India, role of technology in skill development in India and scope of multi and interdisciplinary research at KIIT. He also enlightened the gathering on various aspects of SARS CoV2.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Chitta Ranjan Mishra, Eminent Chemical Scientist & Technologist, Columnist, Television Anchor, Author, Orator & National Science Communicator guided the participants and delegates through the importance of science and technology.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU spoke about the importance of science & technology for the development of the students’ community. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS as well as KIDS management for providing this useful platform and inspiring to hold such events and programmes. Dr. Kajal Parashar, Convener, ISCA Bhubaneswar Chapter stated that the National Science Day is celebrated as a mark of reverence for the great scientist C. V. Raman.
Winners of an online quiz competition and Best Innovation Award were also felicitated on the occasion. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Dhirendra Singh, Faculty, KIDS.
