Faculty of KIDS Represents INDIA at International Workshop on Clinical Research

Dr. Abikshyeet PandaReader, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences is the only Indian who was selected and made it to the 7th International Workshop on Clinical Research Methods in Oral Health. The Workshop was organized by Faculty of Dentistry Khon Kaen University in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry Thammasat University and the University of Washington School of Dentistry, USA. The workshop was supported financially by the Fogarty International Center, the US National Institutes of Health (NIH/NIDCR), under the training grant, “Developing clinical and public health research training in oral health for Southeast Asia (D71 TW011198).”

In fact, Dr. Abikshyeet was the sole Indian this year to represent India at the international platform. This workshop was designed to develop, promote and support the enhancement of skills and exchange of knowledge about clinical research in dentistry as well as to facilitate international research collaborations across various Asian Nations.

The workshop was held at the Science Park, Khon Kaen University from 17th to 21st February 2020. More than 40 Participants consisting of researchers, faculties, PhD Scholars, from countries like Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Nepal and India attended the Meeting and discussed in various fields including Research Methods, Behavioral Research in Dentistry, Randomized Clinical Trials, Ethical Issues and Biostatistics.

Study Design Exercise was conducted in which the participants were divided into small groups to discuss and exchange dental research experiences together and to design a mock research proposal to be presented on the last day of the conference. Dr. Abikshyeet was the Team leader of one such group termed Team-3. He was applauded for the efforts put forth, and the proposed research protocol was appreciated to be the best one amongst all other presentations.

Dr. Abikshyeet was selected as the member by the Organizing Team to summarize the experience of the workshop on behalf of all the participants across Asia, and to propose the Vote of Thanks on behalf of all the Participants.

This Visit will enrich the relationship between KIIT DU, India and KKU, KhonKaen Thailand which will open new avenues towards collaborative research.
