NSS School of Computer Engineering (SCE), KIIT hosted its 4th edition of Happiness Concert on 26th January, 2020 in the presence of Dr. Samaresh Mishra, Director, School of Computer Engineering; Dr. Bhabani Shankar Prasad Mishra, Dean, School of Computer Engineering; Prof. Sital Dash and Prof. Ramakant Parida, Program Officers NSS SCE.
Keeping in mind the present scenario, the members of NSS SCE stood up against a very sensitive matter. The cases of sexual violence against women have increased gradually over the years. To confront this issue, 200 volunteers came together with handmade posters and placards and marched up from Campus-15 to KIIT Square through Campus-3 and ended up at Campus-6. It was continued with a ‘Nukkad Naatak’ at Campus-6. It prominently focused on how a woman in our Indian society struggles each and every day right after her birth and how she faces sexual harassment on a daily basis. The Nukkad was heart-wrenching and the assembled audience never stopped applauding.
From there, the rally marched back to Campus-15 where the whole crowd was ready to enthusiastically inaugurated the “Happiness Concert “. It was a beautiful blend of sweet melodies, mesmerizing dance performances, amazing skits, indulging open mics and a lot more. Each participant was awarded a certificate of participation. The wholehearted contribution of volunteers and the audience made this event a grand success.
Ms. Sital Dash, Mr. Ramakant Parida , and all the volunteers of NSS wing of School of Computer Engg. have expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude to Hon’ble Founder KIIT & KISS Prof. Achyuta Samanta; Vice-Chancellor; Pro-Vice Chancellor; Register and Programme Coordinator Dr. Kajal Parashar to give this opportunity to do something for the society.
