National Innovation Foundation, Government of India has rewarded two students from KIIT International School with the prestigious Dr A P J Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards this year, on the occasion of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary on 15th October, 2017.
The students, Ayushman Nayak of Grade III and Subhra Suchismita Patel of Grade XII have been selected to receive this award for their respective scientific innovations. While Ayushman has created a smart car that would stop if its driver violate the traffic rules, Subhra, who will receive the award for the second time, designed an intelligent rag sorting and picking machine. In 2016, she was a winner for her idea of farmer shoes that could plant seeds.
The competition invites unaided ideas for a better country and national development; promotes innovations among children. Out of a total national entries of over 55,000 project ideas those covered each & every district of India, only 29 project ideas are being awarded after thoroughly scrutinized through a six stage selection process. Besides the KIIT School Students, four other students from Odisha were also nominated to receive this annual award.
The Founder of KISS & KIIT University, Prof. Achyuta Samanta has congratulated the young scientists for their extraordinary achievements and wished them best in their future endeavors.
