KSBT Students Shine at National Hackathon on Human–Wildlife Coexistence

From a remarkable pool of innovators across the nation, students from the KIIT School of Biotechnology (KSBT) showcased their excellence at the National Hackathon on Human–Wildlife Coexistence, organized by the Wildlife Institute of India (@wii_india), held at Dehradun on October 5–6, 2025. The team – comprising Swati Samikshya Mohanty,  Kananika Moharana, Surabhi Sahoo, and Sruti Lagna Dash, all in their final year of the B. Tech–M. Tech. Dual Degree in Biotechnology, mentored by Dr. Vishakha Raina — emerged as the 2nd position winners among the top 12 finalist teams nationwide.

Their innovative project, an Advanced Snake Venom Detection System, impressed the jury with its real-world impact in promoting human–wildlife coexistence and saving lives. The team received a cash prize of ₹60,000, while KIIT Deemed to be University was awarded ₹3 lakh to further develop and implement this promising idea. This achievement stands as a testament to the ingenuity, research excellence, and dedication that define the spirit of KIIT.
