Dr. Basant Kumar Behera, Professor, Dept of Orthopaedics, has been elected as the new President of the Odisha Arthroplasty Association during its flagship event, the Odisha Arthroplasty Association Conference (OAACON), held on August 23 and 24, at Bhubaneswar.
The conference, one of the most prestigious platforms for orthopaedic surgeons and postgraduate students in the state, featured academic sessions, discussions, and competitions. A key highlight was the Postgraduate Paper Competition, which was conducted in two stages and saw participation from medical colleges across Odisha.
Dr. Siddharth Poddar, a second-year postgraduate from Kalinga
Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), clinched the first prize in the paper presentation, winning a cash award of Rs 20,000. Another KIMS postgraduate, Dr. Debashish Satapathy, secured the runner-up position and received a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
