During celebration of State Level National Energy Conservation Day on 14th December, 2019, KIIT received the Odisha State Energy Conservation award 2019 for “Best Performance among all Educational Institutions in Odisha.
KIIT has taken various measures and programs for energy conservation and efficient utilization of energy sources. Different activities and awareness program among students community like Guest Lecture on Need of Energy Conservation for society, workshop on “Renewable Energy Conservation for Sustainable development”, Debate competition” Green building”, quiz test etc have been conducted in different Schools of KIIT Deemed to be University throughout the last year.
For the last few years, KIIT has taken energy conservation initiatives in different sectors like replacing 40 Watt Tube Light by 10 Watt LED light, Campus Street light 25 Watt CFL by 8 Watt LED light, Installation of Roof Top Solar Water Heating System in different campuses, Rooftop Solar Installation, Dedicated Feeder from Chandaka grid (33kV), Usage of Capacitor Bank in transmission and distribution lines for improving power factor and many more.

During distribution of State Level Energy Conservation Awards 2019, EIC(E)-cum-PCEI & SDA Odisha, Director, Centre for Environmental Studies, Dept. of Forest & Environment, Odisha; Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Dept. of Energy, Govt. of Odisha and Shri Dibya Shankar Mishra, Hon’ble Minister, Energy, Govt. of Odisha and CE -cum- CEI, Odisha were present.
