(Dr.) Sonali Kar, Professor and HoD Community Medicine, KIMS attended the 55th Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health Conference (APACPH2024) in Busan, South Korea, on being invited as the guest speaker. She spoke about “Regional Development and Equitable Distribution of Vaccines Against Emerging Pandemic X in India: Responses and Way Ahead” under the Communicable Disease category. Her talk gained huge recognition as everyone got to know the Indian scenario and our preparedness.
She also made an oral presentation on “Targeting Improved Tuberculosis (TB)Case Finding in Tribal Dominated Populations: Solutions Built out of Fishbone Analysis during Implementation Research in India”.
The Conference was held from October 23 to 25 and was well attended by more than 2000 delegates including reputed faculties and postgraduates and PhD students from almost all over the world, mainly from Asia, Australia and also from Western countries like Europe, Great Britain, South Africa and USA.
KIMS Postgraduate students Dr. Liwa Patnaik (3rd-year Resident) and Dr. Angana Ray (2nd-year Resident) made poster presentations under the Life Cycle and Health category.
Dr. Liwa’s poster presentation was on the topic: “Postpartum Depression and its determinants among women to address Mental health component: Longitudinal study findings from a Tertiary care centre in eastern India”, under Maternal and Child Health. Dr. Angana’s poster was on the topic: “Factors influencing the performance of new spacing methods in districts with high total Fertility rate: Baseline data from Cross-sectional study in India”, under the Reproductive health category. Both the studies were, guided by Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar.
Their presentations were well appreciated by delegates and judges who attended the international conference.
