KSMC Student Wins Best Actor Award
Sailendra Samantaray, a first-year student of Master of Communication and Journalism from the School of Mass Communication (KSMC), KIIT Deemed University, was awarded the Zee Sarthak Sansar Best Actor Male Award on 1st March 2022, for the film Tu Mora Sathire-2. On receiving the award, Sailendra said, “An actor continually grooms himself, but a good actor unceasingly nurtures and grooms his subject, and I hope the appreciation and love from everyone out there remains unaltered. As time goes by, I will earn both name and fame.”
Tu Mora Sathire-2 is the sequel to the highly lauded Odia film “Tu Mora Sathire”, which was released in 2020 under the Zee Sarthak & D Films banner. He noted that it was his first award in the category of “Best Male Actor,” and that it is one of the toughest categories of all the nominations, so it will always be valuable to him.
Sailendra is a prominent dancer and actor of the Odia Music and Ollywood film industry. He is widely known as “Odisha’s Dancing Superstar.” He first appeared on the popular reality TV show “DID Little Masters” in May 2010. Then, he began working as a dancer and choreographer in a myriad of Odia music videos, live concerts, and events. He began his career in the Odia album industry with “College Days“.
In 2019, Sailendra made his Odia film debut as a lead actor in “Saheb Biwi Aur Sala,” which was a tremendous success. Subsequently, he appeared in a number of projects and has also walked the runway for leading fashion designers and been on the covers of popular magazines.
He said, “The journey from Youtube to Cinema, from a Dancer to an Actor, has been and will continue to be the best era of my life,” and he cherishes everything that’s unfolding in the landscape. Expressing gratitude towards KSMC and KIIT-DU, he added, “I am extremely glad to be a student of a university that has spawned many remarkable personalities, and I am also pleased with the way the school fosters extra-curricular in addition to academics.”
