KSMC student bags National Prize for Film Competition on Community Radio

Ms. Sandhya Kumari Agrawal, a student of KIIT School of Mass Communication bagged Special Recognition Award in the Community Radio Video Challenge (CRVC), which is a joint initiative of the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO), New Delhi.

With the objective to engage the Indian youth in Community Radio and promote understanding and importance of it, CEMCA in collaboration with UNESCO have invited student films from across the country. Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia is an international organization which has been serving as a regional electronic media resource centre and facilitates an effective exchange of information on educational media resources between educational and media organizations in the country.

Every year, CEMCA organizes Community Video Challenge (CRVC) on various themes and subjects. This year the theme for CRVC 2020 is “Community Radio: Changing Lives”, which is further divided into sub-themes that are –Developing and Promoting Skills, Building livelihoods, Creating Entrepreneurs.

The fictional film “Setu” was designed and directed by Ms. Agrawal which is the story of a destitute girl, Mamta who established herself in her later stage of life, with the help and inspiration of community radio. All characters and team members of this film are of KIIT School of Mass Communication. The film is of 4 minutes 56 seconds.

Ms. Agrawal received the special recognition prize from Madhu Parhar, Director, CEMCA at the Head Quarter, New Delhi. She received certificate, memento and a cash prize of Ten thousand Rupees as the Special recognition ward. She has expressed her gratitude to all the faculty members of KIIT School of Mass Communication for their constant encouragement and guidance to achieve this success.
