KISS Wins Energy Globe World Award 2017

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) won the prestigious 18th Energy Globe Award at the Presidential Palace in Tehran.

Kalinga Institute of Social sciences was selected as a finalist out of 2200 projects submitted by 178 countries. India, Spain and Thailand were the finalists in the Fire category and KISS, the only representative from India bagged this award across all categories for its path-breaking initiative of modernizing preparation of food for students through bio gas, steam cooking, solar water heating and rainwater collection systems.

Founded in 1999 by the Austrian energy pioneer Wolfgang Neumann, Energy Globe Award is one of the most prestigious environmental awards for Sustainable Energy in the world distinguishing the best projects in the five categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth besides special category of Sustainable Plastics.

Mr Suvendu Panda, the Nodal Officer of KIIT & KISS Green, received the award on behalf of KISS. Expressing his pleasure on this recent achievement Dr Achyuta Samanta said, “It is a moment of pride for India, Odisha and KISS.”
